A&D FZ-1200iWP IP65 cleaning and calibration should be treated as one measurement-control workflow: clean within the IP65 boundaries, dry and stabilize the balance, run internal calibration, then verify with a known external mass before critical measurements resume.

IP65 is not unlimited washdown

The enclosure is designed for dust and water-jet protection under the IP65 rating. Do not submerge the balance or assume steam, high-pressure cleaning or every chemical cleaner is acceptable. Prevent material from packing beneath the pan and allow all moisture to clear before checking precision performance.

Calibration, RS-232 and options

Use internal calibration after stabilization, then challenge the balance with independent test weights relevant to the working range. RS-232C is standard. FXi-02 USB, FXi-08 Ethernet and FXi-09 battery are optional, but installing any of them removes IP65 compliance and the three cannot be used simultaneously. This is the most important configuration caveat for wet-area buyers.

Troubleshooting after washdown

If readings are unstable after cleaning, first allow more drying and thermal equilibration. Check pan clearance, level and bench stability. Use a dry known test mass. If repeatability returns with the test mass but not with the sample, investigate sample evaporation, condensation or motion before requesting service.
