A&D FZ-120i jewelry balance applications benefit from the model’s 122 g capacity, 0.001 g readability and internal calibration system. The balance is small enough for close bench work yet offers standard RS-232C, counting, percent and statistical modes that can support production records instead of limiting the operator to a single weight display.

Jewelry and precious-material production

For jewelry manufacturing, the FZ-120i can weigh findings, cast components, stone lots, solder, wax patterns and finished pieces within its capacity. Internal calibration is useful when the balance is moved between production benches or experiences normal room-temperature changes. For commercial sale by weight, do not assume a standard FZ-120i is legal for trade; the correct certified configuration must be established separately for the jurisdiction and transaction.

Formulation and sample preparation

A 1 mg display is useful for small blends, pigments, adhesives, coatings, laboratory reagents and development batches. Use appropriate containers, tare before adding material, and avoid placing warm or cold vessels directly on the pan because convection and temperature gradients can cause drift. For very small target masses, determine whether your process uncertainty permits direct weighing rather than choosing the balance solely from the displayed decimal places.

QC, counting and environment

Quality-control teams can use comparator and statistical functions to screen repeated parts or samples, while ACAI counting can speed inventory of uniform clips, screws and electronic components. At 0.001 g readability, airflow, vibration, static electricity and thermal effects can move the last digits. Put the balance on a rigid level surface away from fans and doors, keep samples near room temperature and use appropriate static-control practices when necessary.

Data capture

Standard RS-232C can reduce manual transcription by sending stable readings to a PC or printer. The FZ clock/calendar can support time-aware output. A useful digital record should associate the weight with sample or batch identity; a timestamp and weight alone may not be enough for traceability in a controlled process.
