A&D GC-30K fine mode allows a minimum calculated unit weight of 0.05 g while the scale’s direct readability remains 5 g. That 100:1 difference makes sampling strategy critical. GC’s AIS, ACAI and external-scale connectivity provide the tools to improve a method, but operators still need to understand how much total sample mass is actually being measured.
Practical sample-mass rule
At the fine threshold, 100 pieces × 0.05 g equals only 5 g—one direct display interval. That is a weak basis for precision counting if pieces vary. Increase sample count substantially or use a high-resolution external balance to establish unit weight. The technical minimum is the edge of capability, not necessarily the best operating point for an important inventory result.
AIS, memory and MicroSD
AIS can locate a stored unit weight rapidly, 1,000 item records live in internal memory, and MicroSD expands storage. Use WinCT-Counting to manage master item data and keep controlled backups. If the item weight changes, update the database after re-sampling rather than allowing AIS to keep returning an obsolete value.
Industrial-base scale-up
A&D’s GC brochure specifically shows industrial SB bases connected via AD-8561 for larger counting capacity. Match the remote base capacity/resolution to the real part. Establish unit weight using GC or another balance, then validate the remote bulk count against a known quantity. A 200 kg base can be useful for heavy lots but may not resolve tiny pieces well enough without a strong total mass signal.
Diagnostics and calibration
If displayed weight fails a known reference, investigate calibration, leveling, vibration, container contact and service. If displayed weight passes but count fails, inspect unit-weight sample, active item, part variability and scale selection. If PC/label output is wrong but local results are right, investigate RS-232C/UFC data settings. Keep these fault domains separate.
