A&D HT-120 calibration uses an external reference and should be followed by independent verification. Because the scale reads to 0.01 g, airflow, static, temperature changes, battery condition and transport can affect the last digits even when span calibration is correct.

External calibration and verification
Use a rigid level surface away from fans and vibration. Let the scale and reference mass acclimate, then follow A&D’s calibration procedure with an appropriate weight. Verify zero and an independent known mass afterward. Repeat a normal working load to assess consistency. Do not recalibrate merely because a charged plastic cup or warm sample drifts.
Battery and adapter care
Replace all four AA cells together and observe polarity. Remove batteries during long storage. Auto power-off extends life, and fresh alkalines can provide about 500 hours. Use only the specified optional adapter. Compare fresh-battery and adapter operation when diagnosing power issues.
Case and stainless-pan care
Clean the stainless pan by wiping and keep liquid away from the body; no IP rating is listed. Store the scale dry in its hard case without pressure on the pan. The case protects ordinary transport but not severe impact or weather. After transport, recheck zero and a known reference.
Troubleshooting
Drift often comes from airflow, static, vibration or temperature. Poor zero return can result from debris or pan contact. An overload warning requires immediate removal of the load. If known weights remain consistently wrong after stabilization, recalibrate or arrange service. Last-digit movement alone does not prove a calibration failure.
