Why Multi-Interval Helps
A warehouse may weigh a 25 lb parcel in the morning and a 450 lb tote in the afternoon. A single coarse division sized for 500 lb capacity would sacrifice useful detail on the smaller parcel. Multi-interval design gives a finer low-range division and progressively larger divisions as capacity increases. The scale manages the transition automatically, so operators do not manually select a different instrument range for every load.
Range Transitions and Process Limits
A process tolerance should not be set tighter than the scale can meaningfully resolve in the range where the product is weighed. A comparator band that makes sense at 50 lb may need review for a 400 lb product because the display interval has changed. Build work instructions around the actual product weight and the applicable scale division, especially when operators move between product families.
Comparator Setup
Use the keypad to enter meaningful lower and upper thresholds, then test loads below, within, and above the desired range. The color comparator is designed to reduce decision time. For commercial transactions, comparator colors are a convenience; the actual legal weight and applicable regulations remain controlling. For internal QC, document who is authorized to change limits so a production target does not drift through undocumented menu changes.
Counting Mode
Counting is useful for uniform industrial parts, but the HV-200KC is fundamentally a high-capacity commercial platform scale. Very light pieces may be too small relative to the current display interval for accurate individual counting. Use a representative sample and validate the result with a known count. For small fasteners or electronics, a dedicated high-resolution counting scale may be a better fit.
Accumulation
Accumulation can total multiple loads when a complete batch exceeds platform size or operators need a running material total. A&D’s family documentation supports a large number of repeated weighments. Establish a clear reset procedure and, where traceability matters, record the accumulated total before clearing the job.
Tare and Preset Tare
Tare removes container weight from the net display. Preset tare can speed repetitive operations with known container weights. For legal-for-trade work, make sure the selected tare method and displayed information comply with local requirements. For internal operations, periodically verify container weights if packaging changes or product buildup can alter tare.
Auto-Tare and Take-Away Applications
Auto-tare and negative comparison can support repetitive fill/remove cycles. For example, an operator can remove a target quantity from a bulk container rather than transfer material to an empty container for every measurement. Test the sequence with real materials because product motion, sloshing, vibration, and container handling can delay stability.
Data Output and Range Awareness
When weight is transmitted to a PC, the receiving system should preserve the decimal value and unit exactly. Do not write software that assumes every reading has the same practical resolution. If the application calculates tolerances or pass/fail results externally, make sure it knows which product range and legal requirements apply.
