GX-1SH-2.5K Stainless Load Cell for Wet-Area Hopper, Platform & Process Weighing

For wet-area weighing and load-cell selection help, call MNM Scales at (832) 290-3120 or email mnmscales@yahoo.com.

The GX-1SH-2.5K stainless load cell for wet-area hopper, platform and process weighing is most attractive where corrosion resistance and sealing matter as much as capacity. MNM identifies the sensor as a 2,500 lb stainless sealed shear beam suitable for waterproof floor scales and supplies a foot and spacer for platform-style mounting.

Washdown Floor and Platform Scales

Wet production rooms can expose conventional load cells to frequent cleaning, splash and condensation. A stainless sealed sensor is better suited to that environment, but the entire system still needs compatible cable glands, junction boxes, indicator enclosure and mechanical drainage. Water collecting inside a non-sealed junction box can cause instability even when the load cell itself is protected.

Small Hopper and Bin Systems

Shear beams can support hopper or bin weighing when the vessel and mounting hardware are engineered so weight is transferred predictably through the sensors. Capacity planning must include empty vessel weight, maximum material, asymmetric loading and process forces. Piping, flexible hoses and agitators can create parallel force paths that change indicated weight even if the sensor is accurate.

Food and Ingredient Handling Areas

Stainless construction is useful in food and ingredient environments where corrosion resistance and cleanability are important. The GX listing does not itself state a specific sanitary certification, so do not treat stainless construction alone as proof that every hygienic-design requirement is satisfied. Evaluate the full platform, hardware, cable routing and cleaning procedure for the facility.

Outdoor-Adjacent and High-Humidity Use

Loading docks, covered receiving areas and high-humidity plants can expose scale components to moisture even without direct washdown. Sealed stainless cells reduce one vulnerability, but protect connectors, junction boxes and cable splices from standing water and physical damage. Use drip loops and suitable strain relief where appropriate.

Commissioning a Multi-Cell System

After mounting, compare corner/support responses, correct mechanical binding, balance the junction box if used, then calibrate the indicator with known weight. Repeat the same test after the first few washdown cycles to catch moisture or settling problems early. The cluster's calibration guide provides a practical floor-scale sequence.
