The MNM Scales 25,000 lb load cell for hydraulic press, bearing and press-fit testing is well matched to fixtures where compression force must be measured in a short vertical space. The low-profile disk sensor can sit beneath a reaction plate or component fixture while the LP7516 indicator displays the applied force in 1 lb increments.

Hydraulic Press Force Measurement

A hydraulic pressure gauge estimates cylinder force from fluid pressure and piston area; an inline load cell measures force where it is installed in the mechanical load path. In a properly designed test fixture, that can help compare actual delivered force, study tooling changes, validate a controlled press process or investigate losses caused by alignment and friction. The load cell does not replace a press manufacturer’s safety system or rated tonnage limits.

Bearing Installation and Press Fits

Press-fit force can reveal useful process information. A bearing that requires much more or less force than a known-good baseline may indicate tolerance, alignment, lubrication or component issues. The best comparison uses the same arbor/tooling, insertion depth, part orientation and loading rate. Record both maximum force and, when possible, force versus travel using separate displacement measurement.

Fixture Design Is the Main Accuracy Variable

Use stiff, flat plates that distribute compression over the intended sensing area. Keep the load centered and prevent the upper tooling from rocking. A flexible fixture can absorb or redirect load and can change the reading even when the sensor itself is stable. If the press platen is not parallel, correct the fixture rather than using calibration to compensate for a geometric error.

Verification Before Production Testing

Zero the system unloaded and verify it with an appropriate known reference before relying on results. If the press test is part of a production or quality process, establish an acceptable force window and a calibration interval. Recheck the system after a fixture crash, overload, load-cell replacement or significant tooling change.
