The MNM Scales 10,000 lb x 0.2 lb load cell for crane, hoist and hanging-load testing gives industrial users a high-capacity inline tension sensor with fine displayed resolution and Peak Hold. It is useful when a shop wants measured force data from a controlled suspended-load setup rather than relying only on nominal hoist ratings or estimated load values.
Why an S-Type Sensor Fits Hanging Loads
A hanging load naturally creates tension through the connection between the lifting machine and the suspended object. An S-beam can be installed inline so that axial tension passes directly through the transducer. Proper clevises, eye hardware or rod-end connections help the cell self-align and reduce side loading.

Where the 0.2 lb Increment Helps
Fine indication can help compare repeated lift cycles, identify small changes after maintenance, characterize a fixture, observe load transfer and document controlled test data. The 10,000 lb capacity provides headroom for heavy industrial work while 0.2 lb increments make changes easy to see. Actual test uncertainty still depends on calibration, mechanical alignment and environmental conditions.
Peak Hold for Maximum Suspended Force
Starting and stopping a hoist can create a short maximum above the settled static load. Peak Hold lets the OP-901A retain that maximum so the operator can review it after the event. This is useful for equipment studies and controlled test fixtures, but it does not replace engineered load ratings or regulatory proof-test procedures.

Use hardware and structures rated for the test force, keep people out from under suspended loads and out of stored-energy zones, avoid shock loading, and never use the measuring transducer as a substitute for a properly rated lifting component. A load cell tells you force; it does not certify the crane, hoist, sling or fixture.
