The MNM Scales 3,000 lb compression scale for actuator, clamp and industrial test-stand force measurement provides a practical middle-capacity range for machinery builders, fabrication shops, QC departments and R&D teams. It can measure compression force directly and can also be configured for tension because the supplied S-type sensor responds in both directions when the fixture is designed correctly.
Linear Actuator Thrust Testing
Place the load cell in an axial reaction path between the actuator and a rigid test fixture. Increase actuator output under controlled conditions and record steady or peak thrust. Measurements can compare units, verify performance after service, document force at different stroke positions or identify whether force falls as speed/geometry changes.

Clamp and Assembly Force
Fixtures can use the 3,000 lb system to characterize toggle clamps, pneumatic/hydraulic clamps, press fits, assembly operations and component compression. For production comparisons, keep contact surfaces, part orientation, test speed and fixture position consistent. Peak Hold is useful when the important value is the maximum force reached during a closing, insertion or breakaway event.
Custom Test Stands and QC
A simple test stand can become a repeatable QC tool when the mechanical frame is stiff, the load cell is centered and the procedure is documented. Potential tests include pull-off force, push force, latch release, bearing insertion, component compression, mechanism breakaway and before/after maintenance comparisons. RS232 can support compatible external logging when a production record is needed.
Why Calibration Matters for Pass/Fail Testing
Tension Testing Too
Because the S-beam is a tension/compression sensor, a properly engineered fixture can use the same system for pull testing. Clevises or rod ends are commonly used to keep tensile force axial. Do not improvise tension adapters from components that lack adequate load ratings.
