15,000 lb force scale applications are a good fit when a test needs substantially more headroom than a 5,000 or 10,000 lb system but still benefits from a 1 lb displayed increment. Where a 15,000 lb S-type system fits

Winch and cable pull testing

For winch testing, install the S-beam in a straight force path with suitable shackles, clevises or engineered adapters. The load cell should not be used as a swivel or bending link. Increase force gradually, watch for stable alignment and use Peak Hold when the objective is to capture the maximum force reached during a controlled pull. Hoist and suspended-load checks

Before building a production workflow around any of these functions, identify the exact indicator model and confirm its command/output format.

How much capacity margin do you need?

Do not size a force scale so expected peaks live at the top of the range. Consider normal steady force, startup peaks, shock, dynamic loading, off-axis effects and the consequences of a jam or stalled actuator. If a test can unexpectedly exceed 15,000 lb, choose a higher-capacity measurement system rather than using overload as normal operating margin. Conversely, if most tests are only a few hundred pounds, a lower-capacity system may provide a more appropriate measurement range.

Can this replace a dynamometer in every lifting test? No. It is a force-measurement system; suitability depends on the engineered test method, rigging and required standards. Can it measure compression? The MNM listing describes an S-type tension/compression system. Compression requires a properly designed fixture that keeps the load axial. Why is Peak Hold useful?
