The A&D EK-4100i production scale is a strong fit for operations that need up to 4000 g of capacity with 0.1 g display resolution for parts, batches, kits, samples and packaged materials.

Parts counting and inventory control
The combination of 0.1 g readability and ACAI counting is useful for many medium-small industrial parts: screws, washers, pins, clips, terminals, fittings, machined pieces, small castings and packaged hardware. Start with a representative sample, let the balance establish an average unit weight, then add more pieces so ACAI can refine that average. A larger sample generally gives a better result when parts have normal manufacturing variation. For cycle counts, verify a few lots manually before relying on the balance for high-volume inventory adjustments.
Batching and formulation
A 4 kg capacity lets operators use practical containers while still reading to 0.1 g. This can fit adhesives, coatings, inks, flavor components, research blends, cleaning concentrates, small chemical batches and production trials. Tare the empty container, add each ingredient deliberately and use accumulation or written batch records when several additions must be documented. For complex kits with very light pieces, counting individual components may be more reliable than a single gross-weight check.
Production sampling and quality control
Production teams can use the balance to check molded parts, machined samples, filled containers, subassemblies and incoming materials. A consistent sampling plan should define where the sample is placed, how long operators wait for stability, how often a verification weight is checked and what action is taken when a result exceeds tolerance.

Packaging engineers can compare empty package tare, filled weight, component sets and prototype materials. Because the pan is 170 × 133 mm, the balance is best for packages that sit comfortably without contacting the housing or overhanging in a way that creates instability. For regulated net-content enforcement, confirm that the weighing equipment and procedure meet the applicable legal requirements rather than assuming a general-purpose balance is automatically approved for commercial transactions.
Mobile inspection with the optional battery
The optional rechargeable battery makes the EK-4100i useful on inspection carts and temporary workstations. A&D documents roughly nine hours of continuous operation under its stated conditions. Before recording measurements after moving the balance, re-level it and verify with a known weight. A mobile balance is still a precision instrument, so a rigid cart with locked wheels is much better than a flexible table or a surface that moves when the operator leans on it.
Using the underhook for awkward samples
The EK-4100i supports underhook weighing, which can help with awkward shapes, density work or suspended fixtures. Ensure the suspended load remains centered and free, and include any fixture mass in capacity planning. Do not use the underhook arrangement to pull sideways on the balance or create a force-testing rig; a weighing balance and a force measurement system have different mechanical design requirements.
Data capture with RS-232C
Standard RS-232C can feed a printer, data logger or computer. For production use, decide whether data should stream continuously, transmit on command or be sent when the operator presses PRINT. Build identifiers such as lot number, operator, machine or work order into the receiving process so a weight value is not separated from its context. A digital connection improves recordkeeping only when the surrounding workflow is designed clearly.
