A&D EW-1500i for jewelry, specialty commercial weighing, parts and packaging combines a Class III certified triple-range platform with internal process functions. Its exact legal ranges are 300 g × 0.1 g, 600 g × 0.2 g and 1,500 g × 0.5 g under current CoC 04-019A3. That stepped resolution lets lighter transactions use a finer interval while preserving 1.5 kg gross capacity. Buyers must still inspect the exact unit markings because the certificate requires certain combined 0/T-key units to be marked “Not for Direct Sales,” and the counting function is specifically excluded from legal-for-trade use.

Jewelry and higher-value materials

The lower 300 g range provides 0.1 g trade resolution, which can suit some larger jewelry or precious-material transactions but is not fine enough for every high-value item. Match the legal division to the commodity value and local rules. If a transaction requires 0.01 g or 0.001 g legal resolution, a different certified balance is necessary even though EW-1500i is itself NTEP Class III.

Commercial specialty goods and packages

The 1,500 g capacity can handle specialty goods, ingredients and packages that exceed small jewelry balances. In a commercial transaction, confirm the active interval and actual device marking. The range automatically becomes coarser as load increases. For a 1.2 kg item, the applicable division is 0.5 g, not the 0.1 g division available in the first range.

Parts counting is internal only

ACAI counting can support internal inventory, kitting and receiving, but CoC 04-019A3 explicitly says counting is not legal for trade. If a customer buys 1,000 pieces by count, the NTEP certificate does not make the calculated piece count a certified transaction function. Use appropriate counting/transaction procedures and keep the legal weight function separate.

Packaging and quality control

Comparator HI/OK/LO status can assist internal package checks while RS-232C records weights in a PC or printer. When packaging is regulated by net quantity, define whether the EW-1500i’s certified weighing result is the official compliance measurement or only an internal process check. Calibration, legal status and process tolerance are distinct controls.

Portable use and battery power

The optional rechargeable battery supports portable market or receiving stations. Current A&D family information advertises approximately 250 hours with the current pack, although older manuals document earlier battery designs with shorter runtime. A mobile legal-for-trade station still needs a stable, level surface and must remain within the approved/marked use conditions.
