A&D FZ-120iWP internal calibration combines a built-in mass with an IP65 balance enclosure, making routine adjustment convenient after appropriate stabilization and cleaning. Internal calibration should be followed by independent verification when the measurement system requires documented proof of accuracy rather than adjustment alone.
Verification after cleaning or relocation
Allow the balance to dry, return to room temperature and sit level on a stable bench. Run internal calibration, then apply a known external mass near the normal process range. Water trapped on a pan or housing, a cold sample vessel or airflow from drying can cause transient drift, so do not verify while the station is still thermally or physically changing.
Interface choices can change IP65 status
Standard RS-232C is part of the base design. A&D offers FXi-02 Quick USB, FXi-08 Ethernet and FXi-09 rechargeable battery, but installing any of those options removes IP65 compliance for the resulting configuration. The three options are also mutually exclusive. If washdown resistance is a primary requirement, do not specify an internal option board without understanding that tradeoff.
Troubleshooting unstable precision
Check level, bench vibration, airflow, static, pan contact and sample temperature before recalibrating repeatedly. If a clean dry check weight is repeatable but the process sample drifts, investigate the sample and handling method. If the test mass itself remains unstable under controlled conditions, qualified service may be appropriate.
