A&D EK-610i calibration uses an external 600 g default reference. With 0.01 g repeatability and ±0.02 g linearity, users should verify performance at more than one load point when the balance is used from tiny samples through several hundred grams. Environmental and mechanical causes should be ruled out before repeated adjustment.
External calibration and multi-point verification
Level the balance and use a suitable known 600 g reference for calibration. Then verify an independent low or mid-range mass as well as a heavier value if the process spans the full range. A balance can be correct near its calibration point yet show a stable load-dependent error elsewhere, which requires diagnosis rather than endless repetition of the same full-scale adjustment.
Static, airflow and container fit
Static and airflow can move a hundredth-gram display, and larger 600 g-capable containers can overhang the small 110 mm pan. Make sure the vessel does not touch the housing or bench. If the reading changes with a hand approaching a plastic container, address static; if it changes with HVAC, improve airflow isolation before recalibrating.
Repeatability and position checks
Repeat a known load several times with full unload between readings and compare representative pan positions. A large center-to-edge difference suggests eccentric loading or mechanical contact. Calibration cannot correct a load that is partially supported outside the weighing pan.
RS-232 troubleshooting
If the local display passes known-weight verification but transmitted data is wrong, check baud/parity settings, cable pinout and output mode. A serial-interface fault should be solved as a data problem, not by changing the weighing span.
