MNM GX-1-SH-1K for Washdown Platform, Hopper & Process Scales
The GX-1-SH-1K 1,000 lb stainless shear beam is well suited to compact industrial weighing where the sensor may see routine moisture, cleaning or process-area exposure. The right use depends on the complete scale design, not simply the cell's capacity.
Washdown platform scales
For small floor and platform scales, stainless construction can be valuable where decks are cleaned or where humidity is higher than in a dry warehouse. Keep the junction box, cable glands, connectors and indicator protected to the same environmental standard; a stainless load cell does not make the entire scale waterproof.
Hoppers and ingredient bins
A properly mounted shear beam can support hopper or bin weighing when the load path stays vertical and process piping, hoses, ladders or rigid conduits do not bypass the cells. Select capacity with enough margin for vessel dead load, maximum product, shock and asymmetric loading. Do not simply multiply cell capacities and assume the structure is safe.
Batching and filling systems
In batching, repeatability and stable zero are often more important than the smallest possible displayed increment. Good mounting, flexible process connections, stable excitation and correct filtering help the 3 mV/V strain-gauge signal produce useful process data. If the scale is used to sell product by weight, the full legal-for-trade system requirements also apply.
Maintenance priorities
Inspect for debris under the platform, bent feet, loose mounting hardware, damaged cable jackets and water in junction boxes. Keep cleaning chemicals compatible with the full assembly. After collision, overload, welding near the scale or cell replacement, verify corner balance and calibration before returning the scale to service.
Choosing 1,000 lb capacity
Capacity selection should include dead load plus the maximum live load and realistic overload margin. In a four-cell platform, load is not always shared equally, especially when an item sits near one corner. If your calculated load approaches the per-cell rating, use engineering judgment and a larger-capacity design rather than relying on ideal 25% sharing.
