MNM GX-1-SH-5K for Washdown Floor, Heavy Platform, Hopper & Tank Scales
The single GX-1-SH-5K 5,000 lb stainless shear beam targets heavier industrial weighing than the 1K version. Typical projects include floor/platform scales, material handling platforms, hoppers, tanks and batching systems where each cell must carry substantial dead load and live load.
Heavy floor and pallet platforms
Four 5,000 lb cells do not automatically mean a 20,000 lb safe scale capacity. The deck, feet, stops, load distribution and off-center loading determine actual system design. Size cells with allowance for corner loading, forklift impact and shock. In washdown areas protect the junction box and connectors as carefully as the stainless sensors.
Hopper and tank weighing
Vessel weighing requires flexible connections so pipes, hoses and conduits do not carry part of the vessel weight. Account for empty-vessel dead load, maximum contents, agitation, wind/seismic loads where relevant and uneven load sharing. Calibration should be performed in the installed mechanical configuration.
Process and batching use
The published 3 mV/V signal and 350 Ω-class bridge make the GX-1-SH-5K compatible with many industrial indicators and transmitters when wiring and excitation are matched. For batching, evaluate stability, filtering, update rate and process vibration at the indicator in addition to the load-cell specs.
Washdown does not eliminate maintenance
Inspect cable jackets, glands, junction boxes and mechanical clearances after cleaning. Avoid direct high-pressure spray into connectors or enclosures not rated for it. If zero shifts after cleaning, check for trapped debris or liquid, mechanical binding and moisture intrusion before recalibrating.
When the 5K cell is the right choice
Choose the 5K capacity when the engineering load per cell, including dead load and realistic overload margin, requires it. Do not upsize automatically if a lower-capacity cell provides sufficient safety margin; excessively high cell capacity can reduce usable signal per unit of applied load and make a small-load application less sensitive.
