How to Calibrate an MNM GX-1-SH-5K Floor Scale Load Cell
Calibrating a scale after installing a GX-1-SH-5K means calibrating the complete weighing system, not adjusting the bare load cell. Start with mechanics, then wiring and corner balance, then finish with indicator zero/span calibration and verification.
Mechanical pre-check
Unload the deck or vessel. Verify level, mounting surfaces, free movement, check rods, piping and cable routing. On a floor scale, debris under the deck or a foot that is not carrying load can make electronic calibration impossible. On a hopper, rigid piping can bypass the load cells and change readings as product or temperature changes.
Wiring verification
For this model MNM publishes red +EXC, black -EXC, green +SIG and white -SIG. Verify terminals and shielding against the actual indicator/junction-box documentation. A reversed signal pair commonly produces negative weight; a poor excitation connection can cause unstable or low output.
Corner test and trim
Establish an unloaded zero, then place the same stable test load at each corner/load point. Record the readings. Fix mechanical problems first. If the system uses an adjustable summing junction box, make small trim adjustments to bring the corners together, repeating the same load position after each change.
Zero and span
After corner balance, unload and perform the indicator's formal zero calibration. Apply a traceable known load large enough to represent the operating range and perform span calibration according to that indicator's manual. Do not invent or borrow a service-menu sequence just because another MNM scale uses a particular indicator.
Final verification
Remove the load and check return to zero. Repeat the same load several times and test multiple values. Recheck corners after span calibration. Record as-found/as-left results when calibration is part of quality control. Legal-for-Trade systems may require a registered technician, sealing and local inspection.
