How to Calibrate the MNM 25,000 lb x 1 lb Compression Scale
Calibration must include the exact load cell, plates, cable, indicator and fixture. The product listing names multiple indicator possibilities, so first identify the model label. Do not apply an OP-901 button sequence to an LP7516-family unit or vice versa.
Mechanical preparation
Place the pancake cell between rigid, flat, parallel plates. Remove side contact, cable tension and unstable supports. Preload gently several times and verify the reading returns near zero. A calibration cannot correct a load path that rocks, bends or contacts the sensor off center.
OP-901 family procedure
For an OP-901A or OP-901B, ON/OFF plus SET enters settings. Confirm C01 units, C02 decimal position, C03 graduation and C04 maximum capacity. With the system unloaded and stable, use C05 for zero calibration. Use C06 for known-load span, enter the exact reference force, apply it centrally, wait for stability and complete the countdown. The official OP-901 manual states the calibration load should be at least 10% of C04 maximum.
LP7516-family procedure
LP7516-family calibration also uses C01–C06 concepts: unit, decimal, divisions, maximum capacity, zero and loading/span. Full service calibration may require CAL/SPAN access on the rear of the indicator. Use the exact manual and do not defeat seals or service controls without authorization.
Reference force and verification
A 25,000 lb system requires a safe, traceable reference force—not improvised suspended weights. Use a calibrated press, proving device, reference load cell or suitable test machine. After span, verify several increasing and decreasing points, repeat one point and check zero return. Record fixture, temperature, indicator model and certificate data.
Troubleshooting
Drift suggests warm-up, cable movement, electrical noise or changing mechanical contact. Different readings after repositioning suggest poor plate contact. A stable zero but incorrect span may indicate the wrong calibration value or capacity setting. Nonrepeatable results should be treated as a mechanical or sensor problem before recalibrating again.
