How to Calibrate the MNM MS70-10K-TC 10,000 lb x 2 lb Force Scale
MNM MS70-10K-TC calibration should verify the complete force-measurement system, not only the S-type load cell. The fixture, threaded hardware, cable, indicator configuration, unloaded mechanical condition and known reference force all affect the final reading.

Important indicator note
The public MS70-10K-TC listing does not identify the exact indicator model. Do not assume OP-901, LP7515 or another indicator's service-menu button sequence applies. Identify the shipped indicator from its faceplate or label and use that indicator's manual for the actual calibration-menu entry steps. The procedure below describes the measurement workflow that remains valid regardless of menu layout.
Before calibration
Inspect eye bolts, threads, cable and connectors; replace damaged hardware before applying calibration force.
Arrange the fixture so force passes axially through the S-beam without side load, bending or torsion.
Warm up/stabilize the electronics and let the unloaded assembly settle before setting zero.
Use a safe, traceable known force or reference appropriate for the load range. Do not improvise a hazardous suspended load simply to reach a high percentage of capacity.
Zero and span workflow
Unload the sensor completely and confirm there is no fixture contact or preload. Set the indicator's calibration zero according to the exact indicator manual.
Apply the selected known force smoothly and hold it steady. Enter the reference value in the indicator's span/loading calibration step and allow the reading to stabilize before accepting it.
Remove the reference force and verify return to zero. A meaningful residual reading can indicate mechanical binding, hysteresis, temperature change or an incorrect zero.
Check additional points through the intended operating range rather than validating at only one span point. Record indicated force versus reference force.
Repeat at least one load point several times to evaluate repeatability and unload between cycles to check return-to-zero behavior.
Tension, compression and Peak Hold verification
If the system will be used in both tension and compression, verify the actual direction(s) of use with suitable fixtures. A calibration that looks correct in one direction does not excuse a mechanically poor fixture in the other. For Peak Hold, first prove the static scale is behaving correctly, then apply a repeatable dynamic test and confirm the captured peak is consistent from run to run at similar loading rates.
When to recalibrate
Recheck calibration after replacing the load cell or indicator, changing critical fixtures, repairing the cable, experiencing an overload, seeing persistent zero drift, or when your quality system's calibration interval requires it. A system used for acceptance testing should also have a documented verification schedule appropriate to the risk of the measurement.
Common calibration problems
Span is correct near one point but wrong elsewhere: check linearity, fixture alignment, incorrect capacity/division setup and sensor damage.
Zero changes after loading: inspect for binding, thread seating, slipping fixtures or overload history.
Reading is noisy: inspect cable routing, shielding/grounding, connectors and mechanical vibration.
Calibration menu does not match an online guide: stop and identify the actual indicator; do not force a sequence intended for another model.
