The MNM Scales 100,000 lb compression scale calibration process follows the same zero-and-span principle as smaller systems, but the reference method changes at this capacity. Instead of trying to stack enormous dead weights, industrial users typically apply force through a controlled press or fixture while comparing the MNM system with a traceable reference load cell, proving device or calibrated force standard.

Build a Safe Calibration Load Path
The fixture, press, reaction frame and platens must be engineered for the maximum force you intend to apply. Center the disk load cell between flat, adequately stiff surfaces and avoid edge loading. Keep personnel outside stored-energy and failure zones. Calibration should never require exceeding the 100,000 lb system rating.
OP-901 Zero and Span
The official OP-901 manual uses C05 for zero calibration and C06 for span. Configure units, decimal position, division and maximum capacity first. With the fixture relaxed at the intended no-load condition, capture zero. Apply a known traceable compression force, allow both the reference and MNM indicator to stabilize, enter the reference force as span, then save and unload.
Verify More Than One Force Point
Check several increasing force points, then selected decreasing points, and repeat at least one point to evaluate repeatability and return-to-zero. Record reference force, MNM indication and difference. For a system used in a specific band—such as 20,000–60,000 lb press work—put extra verification points in that working band instead of relying only on a near-full-scale test.
