The MNM Scales 500,000 lb compression load cell for hydraulic press, structural and heavy tank weighing applications brings half-million-pound sensor capacity into a low-profile pancake form. That capacity is relevant to heavy industrial work where forces are far beyond normal floor-scale or shop-test ranges and where a compact compression sensor must fit between large reaction structures.

Hydraulic Press Force Measurement

A high-capacity press can use a compression load cell to measure actual reaction force instead of inferring force only from hydraulic pressure and nominal cylinder area. A properly designed load path can support press verification, forming studies, bearing or bushing installation, heavy assembly, structural component tests and equipment development. The cell must be centered between sufficiently stiff surfaces and protected from lateral force.

Structural and Machinery Reaction Loads

Engineered fixtures can place the sensor under jacks, columns, machine supports or test frames to measure compressive reaction forces. Potential uses include controlled proof-load research, machinery support studies, structural component validation and R&D. At these forces, the fixture itself is a major part of measurement quality; plate bending or eccentric contact can distort the load path.

Heavy Tanks, Hoppers and Vessels

High-capacity compression cells are widely used in multi-cell weighing assemblies beneath tanks, bins and hoppers. Industry systems can reach several hundred thousand pounds of total capacity using multiple supports. For vessel weighing, account for piping forces, thermal movement, structural restraints, uneven load sharing and environmental protection so the sensor receives the weight rather than having force bypass through rigid connections.

Why Low Profile Matters

Existing machinery and tank supports often have limited vertical space. Pancake geometry can reduce the height added by the force sensor compared with some column or canister arrangements. A retrofit still requires engineering review of mounting dimensions, load introduction and lateral restraint.
