MNM GX-1-5K Four 5,000 lb Alloy-Steel Shear Beam Kit Guide
The MNM GX-1-5K four 5,000 lb shear beam load cell kit is a four-cell alloy-steel package intended for custom platform, floor, pallet, hopper, tank and process-weighing builds. MNM lists four load cells, four 1/2-20 feet and four spacers, along with electrical specifications that are useful for indicator matching, junction-box setup, troubleshooting and replacement planning.

Listing details that need confirmation
MNM's public listing contains inconsistent envelope wording—both “large envelope” and “small envelope (heavy duty)” appear—and its cable description mixes 15 feet with “6 meter.” Those details should be confirmed from the physical unit/drawing before a drop-in replacement or new platform is fabricated. This guide does not convert those conflicting lines into a made-up dimension or cable length.
How four shear beams become one scale
In a typical four-corner platform, each load cell supports one corner through a foot/mounting arrangement. Their signals are combined in a junction box and sent to one indicator. The system capacity is not simply “four times 5,000 lb” without considering platform structure, load distribution, live/dead load, shock, foot geometry, overload margin and indicator/legal-for-trade configuration. The mechanical design must keep each beam free to deflect as intended without binding.
Installation sequence
Verify the platform frame is rigid and the mounting points are flat, aligned and appropriate for the exact GX-1-5K dimensions.
Install all four cells in consistent orientation with feet/spacers arranged so the platform can settle without side binding.
Route each cable to the junction box without stretching, crushing or sharply bending it. Do not shorten cables casually when corner balance depends on matched electrical conditions.
Wire excitation and signal leads correctly, power the indicator and verify all corners respond in the same polarity.
Level the platform, perform a corner test, trim the junction box as needed, then complete zero and span calibration.
Applications
This capacity class is relevant to heavy pallet and warehouse platforms, industrial floor scales, material bins, hoppers, batching vessels and custom process equipment. The two dedicated application articles in this cluster cover floor/pallet/warehouse scales and hopper/tank/batching systems separately because their mechanical error sources are different.
Troubleshooting
One corner reads high/low: verify foot contact, binding, wiring, cable damage and junction-box trim before recalibrating span.
All readings are low or high by a similar percentage: verify indicator capacity/division settings and span calibration.
Zero changes when the platform is nudged: inspect feet, stops, debris, frame contact and cable tension.
Unstable reading: isolate vibration, moisture/connector issues and electrical noise, then test cells individually if needed.
