MNM IDS-672-10K for Hydraulic Press, Bearing & Fixture Force Testing
The MNM IDS-672-10K is a practical 10,000 lb low-profile compression scale for controlled hydraulic press, bearing, bushing, press-fit and fixture force measurement. Its pancake-style sensor minimizes stack height, while the OP-901A/OP-901B indicator provides a portable digital readout and documented calibration path.

Hydraulic press force measurement
A low-profile load cell can be placed in an engineered press fixture to compare force at a specific ram position, validate a setup, characterize a process or monitor changes after maintenance. It is not a substitute for the press manufacturer's safety controls, guarding or rated tooling. The sensor and its loading interfaces need to remain centered and stable throughout the stroke.
Bearing and press-fit applications
Bearing, bushing and press-fit work often benefits from force data because abnormal insertion force can reveal misalignment, wrong interference, damaged surfaces or a process change. For repeatable data, control part preparation, lubrication, temperature, tooling alignment and press speed in addition to calibrating the load cell.
Fixture design priorities
Use rigid, flat interfaces appropriate for the sensor and test load.
Keep the force centered; eccentric compression can create tilt and measurement error.
Protect the cable from the ram, tooling, hot components and pinch points.
Account for fixture deflection; a flexible plate can redistribute load as force rises.
Stay within the rated capacity of every component, not just the 10,000 lb load cell.
How to get repeatable press-force data
Calibrate/verify the system with a suitable known reference and confirm zero before the run.
Use the same fixture, contact geometry and part orientation for comparisons.
Control press speed or at least record it, especially when comparing peak force.
Record force at the same process point rather than comparing unrelated stages of a press cycle.
Recheck zero after the run; a shifted zero can indicate trapped load, fixture movement or overload.
Other uses
The same principles apply to actuator thrust, clamping-force checks, spring compression, machine setup, structural coupons and controlled shop test stands. The 1 lb displayed increment is useful for many heavy shop tasks without requiring the much finer display used by some specialty 10,000 lb systems.
