The MNM Scales 10,000 lb compression scale for machinery, fixture and structural load testing provides machine builders, maintenance teams, fabricators and engineers with a compact sensor for measuring reaction force, preload and static compression. The low-profile disk sensor fits naturally between a machine and support, under a loaded fixture or inside a purpose-built structural test frame where vertical clearance is limited.

Measuring Reaction Force in Machine Fixtures
A fixture may look rigid while still distributing load unevenly across supports. Placing a compression load cell at a reaction point can reveal how much load that support actually carries. With multiple controlled measurements, technicians can compare fixture adjustments, shim thickness, clamp settings or machine alignment. Because this MNM set includes one sensor, it measures one reaction point at a time unless the test is redesigned or additional channels are added.
Bearing, Preload and Assembly Force
Many mechanical assemblies depend on a controlled compressive preload. A load cell can help quantify forces applied to bearings, housings, clamps, stack-ups and fixtures during setup. Creep in the fixture, bedding-in between contact surfaces and relaxation in elastomers can change force over time, so a structural or preload test may need readings at both initial load and after a defined dwell period.
Why Centered Loading Matters
A low-profile sensor is more tolerant of compact fixture geometry than many beam designs, but force should still be centered. A tilted plate or small off-center contact patch introduces moments and can distort the result. Use rigid load-spreading plates where needed and make sure the sensor sits flat on a clean support. The lower structure should be stiff enough that it does not rock or flex unpredictably as force rises.
Data Collection With RS232C
OP-901 RS232C can feed compatible external equipment at selectable baud rates. This is useful for maintenance records, production checks or engineering test logs. If several channels are required simultaneously—for example, measuring four machine feet at once—a multi-channel acquisition system is more appropriate than moving one sensor between points. The MNM system is strongest as a portable single-point measurement package.
