A&D FC-500Si fine mode supports a 0.00005 g minimum calculated unit weight, normal mode supports 0.001 g, and direct weighing readability is 0.02 g. This hierarchy is the key to using the scale correctly: SHS and high internal resolution improve average-piece calculations, but direct weight verification still occurs at the scale’s actual 0.02 g display resolution.

SHS and internal resolution

A&D’s Super Hybrid Sensor combines electromagnetic and strain-gauge concepts to improve speed, precision and maintainability. FC-Si uses much higher internal counting resolution than FC-i. Internal resolution is used by the counting algorithm and should not be quoted as user-visible scale readability; verify ordinary weight with the 0.02 g display specification and known references.

500 g external calibration

MNM specifies a 500 g calibration reference. Level/stabilize the scale, use an appropriate calibrated mass and complete digital calibration, then test another known weight. If the scale weighs correctly but counts poorly, adjust the sample/unit-weight procedure rather than repeatedly changing span calibration.

Sample diagnostics

For inconsistent counts, inspect static, airflow, pan contact, sample size and part variation. At the extreme fine threshold, total sample mass can be smaller than one direct display increment, so a larger random sample may be necessary. ACAI helps once additional known pieces are supplied; it cannot correct a mixed lot containing different part numbers.

RS-232C and remote scale options

Standard RS-232C supports data/control. FC-03i adds two serial channels; FC-04i adds one serial channel plus comparator relay and cannot coexist with FC-03i. FC-05i connects a remote scale. A two-scale station can establish sensitive unit weight on FC-500Si and then count a much larger batch on the external platform, provided the combination is validated.

Frequently asked questions

Direct readability? 0.02 g. Normal/fine minimum unit weight? 0.001 g / 0.00005 g. Calibration mass? 500 g. Is SHS the reason for higher counting sensitivity? It is a major part of FC-Si’s high-performance sensor architecture. Can FC-03i and FC-04i coexist? No. Can FC-500Si control a remote scale? Yes with FC-05i.
