A&D HT-300 calibration requires an external reference weight, while dependable daily use also depends on a rigid surface, fresh batteries, correct pan seating and verification after transport. The included carrying case protects the scale in storage, but users should still confirm performance after movement.

Set up before calibration
Place the scale on a flat rigid surface away from fans, vibration and temperature gradients. Install the standard or optional pan correctly, remove all loads and confirm zero. Let the scale and reference weight acclimate. A calibration performed on a soft table or immediately after moving from a cold vehicle can be misleading.
External calibration and verification
Follow the A&D calibration procedure with an appropriate calibrated reference. Center the weight carefully and complete the sequence. Remove it, confirm zero and apply an independent known mass. Repeat a working-range load several times. If results vary, inspect the environment, batteries and pan contact before recalibrating.
Battery care
Replace all four AA batteries together, observe polarity and remove them for long storage. Low batteries can cause shutdown, slow response or unstable behavior. The optional adapter is useful for fixed work; use only the specified supply. Compare battery and adapter operation when diagnosing power problems.
Carrying-case storage
Store the scale clean and dry, without a load pressing on the pan. Use the name plate to identify ownership or verification status. The stackable case saves space but should not be used to crush loose accessories against the weighing mechanism. Remove batteries if the unit will remain unused for an extended period.
Troubleshooting
Drift commonly comes from airflow, vibration, temperature change or static. Poor zero return can result from debris or pan binding. An overload indication requires immediate removal of the load. If a known reference is consistently wrong after stabilization, recalibrate or arrange service. Do not wash the scale or assume the optional stainless pan makes the electronics water resistant.
