The MNM MS-1-500 500 lb S-type load cell for spring, actuator and test-stand force measurement gives machine builders and experimenters a bare transducer that can be integrated into a custom indicator, DAQ or control system. Its bidirectional S-beam geometry makes it useful for both push and pull tests.
Spring and Suspension Component Testing
Use stiff, parallel compression plates to measure spring force at defined heights, compare springs or study preload. The 500 lb range is suitable for many smaller automotive, machinery and industrial springs. Pair force with an accurate displacement measurement when calculating spring rate.
Linear Actuator and Solenoid Force
Install the load cell in the actuator's reaction path and measure thrust at specific stroke positions, supply conditions or speeds. Peak or breakaway force can be captured by a compatible indicator or data-acquisition system. Keep the actuator aligned so the MS-1-500 sees axial load rather than bending.

Clamp, Cable and Pull-Force Fixtures
The sensor can characterize clamp force, cable tension, pull-off force, latch release or component extraction when the fixture routes force through the load cell. Threaded clevises or rod ends can help tension fixtures self-align. Select all adapters and structural parts for the full intended force, not merely the typical reading.
Choosing an Indicator
Look for a strain-gauge indicator that supports a roughly 350-ohm bridge, suitable excitation and the functions your test needs. Peak Hold is useful for maximum-force tests; RS232 or another digital output helps with logging; check-weigh or relay outputs can support pass/fail automation. Calibrate the final load cell + indicator + fixture as one measurement system.
