Replacing an OP-312-10K requires more than matching 10,000 lb capacity. The mechanical envelope, thread engagement, signal level, bridge resistance, connector pinout and environmental conditions all affect whether the replacement will install safely and calibrate correctly.
Electrical checklist
Verify 3.00 mV/V nominal output, 385 ±15 ohm input resistance, 350 ±5 ohm output resistance and 10 V AC/DC excitation compatibility. Confirm the four-wire color code rather than assuming another manufacturer uses the same colors. Trace connector pins end to end if an existing quick-disconnect plug will be reused.
Mechanical checklist
Measure overall height, body width and thickness, thread diameter and pitch, thread depth, cable-exit direction and clearance around the S-beam. MNM separately lists eye bolts for 5,000–10,000 lb S-type cells as 3/4-16 fine thread, but buyers should still confirm the exact physical unit before relying on a catalog-family statement.
Capacity and overload margin
The OP-312-10K listing states 120% full-scale safe overload. Dynamic hoist, winch and proof-test applications can generate peaks above the static force, so select fixtures and operating procedures with appropriate margin. Do not use the sensor as a structural safety device or lifting component.
After installation
Check unloaded stability, verify positive signal direction, perform zero and known-load span calibration, and test repeatability and return to zero. If one reading is correct but other points are wrong, inspect the fixture for bending or binding before assuming the indicator needs another adjustment.
Questions buyers commonly ask
Can another 10,000 lb S-beam replace it? Only if mechanical, electrical and approval details match. Can a four-wire cell replace a six-wire cell? Sometimes, but sense-wire handling and indicator configuration must be addressed. Can the old calibration be retained? It may provide a starting point, but a replacement sensor requires complete zero/span verification. Does the cable length matter? Yes—routing, connector location, noise exposure and resistance can affect installation and performance.
