A&D FC-5000Si is the 5 kg / 10 lb Super Hybrid Sensor counting model for users who need larger sample capacity but significantly finer counting sensitivity than FC-5000i. Direct readability is 0.2 g / 0.0005 lb, while A&D’s current table lists a 0.01 g normal and 0.0005 g fine-mode minimum unit weight. The 0.0005 g figure is used for average-piece calculations and is not 0.0005 g direct scale readability.
FC-5000Si versus FC-5000i
Both models have 5 kg capacity, but FC-5000Si directly reads 0.2 g compared with 0.5 g on FC-5000i and uses SHS with much higher internal counting resolution. Fine-mode minimum unit weight is 0.0005 g on FC-5000Si versus 0.005 g on FC-5000i. The Si model is therefore a better fit when a 5 kg container or lot is needed but the parts themselves are relatively light.
Counting specifications and sample strategy
A&D lists a maximum count display of 9,999,999 pieces, 10-piece standard sampling with 5/25/50/100 or random sample sizes, and a 165 × 165 mm pan. At extremely small unit weights, use larger sample mass than the published minimum. ACAI can refine the average as additional known pieces are added, but no algorithm can eliminate real part-to-part weight variation or a sample that is too small to create a robust load signal.
500 item memories, comparator and accumulation
Store up to 500 item IDs with unit weight, tare, item codes, accumulators and comparator limits. This is valuable for high-mix production and maintenance inventory. The comparator with buzzer can support target quantity or checkweighing tasks, while accumulation adds repeated count results. Audit stored unit weights after product revisions or supplier changes.
RS-232C and remote-scale system
Bidirectional RS-232C is standard. FC-03i adds two serial channels; FC-04i adds one serial channel plus comparator relay and cannot be installed with FC-03i. FC-05i adds a remote-scale interface. This allows FC-5000Si to establish sensitive unit weights locally and then count a much larger lot on an external platform, provided that remote scale’s resolution is suitable and the two-scale workflow is validated.
Calibration and trade status
MNM lists a 5 kg external calibration reference. Calibrate on a stable level surface and verify with another known load. A&D’s current U.S. FC-i/FC-Si page presents FC-5000Si as a high-resolution industrial counting scale and does not identify it as NTEP/legal for trade. Use a certified device where a regulated commercial transaction is based on weight.
