A&D FC-5000Si for light parts in heavy bins solves a common counting problem: a business may need several kilograms of gross capacity for the container and lot, while each individual component is much lighter than a conventional 5 kg counting scale handles well. The Si model’s SHS sensor, 0.2 g direct readability and 0.0005 g fine counting threshold give more sensitivity without sacrificing 5 kg capacity.
Precision kitting with heavier containers
Bins, trays and fixtures consume physical capacity even after tare. FC-5000Si leaves more gross headroom than FC-500Si while retaining much finer counting sensitivity than FC-5000i. Store item/tare data for repeat kits and use comparator limits to catch underfilled or overfilled quantities. Tare never increases the 5 kg load limit.
Electronics and mixed production hardware
Electronic clips, connectors, small molded parts and light fasteners can be counted in larger lots. Control static and ensure the bin does not touch the scale housing or surrounding bench. If counts differ across lots, inspect real part variation and supplier changes before assuming the scale has drifted.
Sample mass matters more than the headline minimum
Fine mode’s 0.0005 g threshold is an internal average-unit-weight capability. A 100-piece sample at that exact threshold totals just 0.05 g, below one 0.2 g display division. For practical inventory accuracy, use many more pieces or a separate higher-resolution scale to establish unit weight. The minimum spec helps define the algorithm’s range; it is not a universal recommended sample size.
Remote platform for very large lots
FC-05i lets FC-5000Si control a larger remote scale. Establish a strong average unit weight on the Si platform, then move the bulk lot to a higher-capacity base. Verify the external scale separately and validate the complete count using a known quantity. The remote platform’s resolution becomes a key part of total count uncertainty.
