A&D FX-2000iWP calibration uses external masses, with 2000 g and 1000 g listed by A&D/MNM. Because this model is often used around food, wet batching or moving subjects, maintenance should include environmental stabilization, independent verification, cleaning checks, animal-pan setup checks and correct cable/interface selection.
External calibration workflow
Level the balance and allow it plus the reference mass to stabilize. Calibrate with an appropriate 2000 g or 1000 g reference, then verify with an independent known weight. Where the process uses both light and heavy loads, check several points and repeat a key mass to separate repeatability, linearity and environmental problems.
Cleaning and mechanical checks
Water-clean within the IP65 guidance, never immerse the unit or spray the underside, and dry before precision testing. Inspect for material lodged around the pan or support. A container, animal pan or tray touching the housing can create stable-looking but incorrect results that calibration cannot fix.
FXi-12 verification
When using FXi-12, verify the balance with the accessory installed if that represents the real measurement setup. Animal averaging is designed for motion and should not be judged by the same repeatability behavior as a static calibration mass. Confirm capacity, containment and pan cleanliness before each critical session.
Connectivity and IP65
Use standard RS-232C with the waterproof A&D cable when electronic data and IP65 are both required. Installing FXi-02 USB, FXi-08 Ethernet or FXi-09 battery removes IP65 compliance and those options cannot be installed together. This limitation should be decided at purchase/configuration time.
WP versus WPN legal status
FX-2000iWP is the standard process model; FX-2000iWPN is the separate legal-for-trade IP65 model. Calibration of the plain WP does not change its type approval. Commercial weighing should use the correct certified configuration from the outset.
