A&D GC-3K AIS and ACAI are complementary tools: AIS searches memory for a likely unit weight, while ACAI improves the average from additional known samples. The model’s 0.005 g fine-mode minimum unit weight is a piece-calculation threshold; direct weighing readability remains 0.5 g. Understanding this prevents unrealistic expectations about single-piece weighing and helps users build accurate counting procedures.
Normal versus fine unit weight
Normal mode requires 0.1 g minimum unit weight and fine mode supports 0.005 g. As individual pieces approach the fine threshold, increase sample quantity so their combined mass spans more direct display divisions. If a 100-piece sample is inconsistent, the product may be too variable for the desired counting accuracy even though the nominal minimum unit weight is technically supported.
Memory and MicroSD data management
The 1,000 internal item records can be extended with MicroSD. Use controlled item codes and backup procedures so the scale’s memory becomes a managed inventory resource rather than an undocumented collection of old piece weights. WinCT-Counting can create/edit/save item data in internal memory, SD card or PC files and can also send commands/settings.
RS-232C and AD-8561 Multi-Interface
Standard RS-232C sends count/weight data and also connects supported A&D weighing equipment. AD-8561 Multi-Interfaces add USB or terminal-block connections. An external high-resolution balance can determine unit weight for very small pieces, while an industrial base can handle large bins. Validate interface settings, units, decimal position and scale selection before production.
Calibration versus count troubleshooting
First verify ordinary weight using known references. If weight is correct but piece count is wrong, rebuild unit weight, inspect part variation, mixed stock, tare and static before recalibrating. If ordinary weighing fails verification, calibrate/service as appropriate. Separating these steps avoids using span calibration to mask a bad sample or stale item record.
Frequently asked questions
AIS versus ACAI? AIS finds unit weight; ACAI refines it. Fine minimum unit weight? 0.005 g. Direct readability? 0.5 g. Internal item memory? 1,000. Can MicroSD extend it? Yes. Is WinCT-Counting included/freeware? A&D provides it for GC data management. Can GC control another scale? Yes through supported RS-232C/AD-8561 configurations.
