A&D HD-60KA is a 120 lb / 60 kg high-capacity counting scale with 0.02 lb / 10 g direct readability and a large 300 × 380 mm stainless platform. A&D’s HD manual lists a 2 g standard minimum unit weight and 0.5 g selectable fine minimum for the 60 kg models. These values are counting-unit thresholds based on sampled groups; the scale still weighs directly in 10 g increments.
60 kg capacity for heavy bins and bulk lots
HD-60KA is intended for heavy hardware, castings, larger bearings, packaged parts and bulk bins that would overload 30 kg counters. The 300 × 380 mm platform supports oversized containers, but the entire bin must be supported by the pan only. If it touches a bench, upright or nearby object, the scale will under-read and the calculated count can be significantly wrong.
Sampling and fine-mode limits
The standard 2 g minimum unit weight corresponds to one-fifth of the 10 g direct division; fine setting reduces that to 0.5 g. For a 0.5 g part, a 100-piece sample totals 50 g—only five display divisions—so sample size and unit consistency remain important. ACAI helps by recalculating the average as additional pieces are added.
Simple KA operation
HD-60KA is the simple A-type with a single display and fewer keys. HD-60KB adds the three-window display and 10-key keypad. KA is appropriate for standardized sample-based workflows; KB is better if users need direct unit-weight entry and frequent numeric configuration.
Power and optional connectivity
Use AC power, six C-cell batteries or the optional AD-1681 rechargeable battery pack. A&D lists roughly 200 hours on alkaline batteries and 20 hours with AD-1681. Optional HD-03 RS-232C supports printer/PC data, HD-04 adds comparator relay and HD-05 supports current-loop communication.
Calibration and U.S. trade status
HD uses external calibration. Verify with suitable known loads across the practical range, especially after relocation. A&D’s current U.S. HD page markets HD-60KA for industrial counting and does not identify it as NTEP/legal for trade. Use a certified commercial scale for regulated sale-by-weight transactions.
