A&D HD-60KA fine counting mode allows a 0.5 g minimum stored unit weight while standard mode uses 2 g and direct scale readability remains 10 g. The HD manual explicitly warns that setting a smaller minimum unit weight does not itself improve count accuracy. Accuracy still depends on weighing performance and consistency of individual pieces, so sample size and ACAI remain central.
Sample-mass reality at 0.5 g
A 100-piece sample of 0.5 g parts totals 50 g, only five direct 10 g display divisions. That can work for relatively uniform items, but more sample mass gives a stronger estimate. Use ACAI and larger samples when the scale asks for more pieces. If a part is much lighter than this, use a lower-capacity/high-resolution scale to establish unit weight instead of stretching a 60 kg platform to the edge of its counting capability.
External calibration and verification
Use the protected CAL switch and suitable known masses following the HD procedure. Level the scale and eliminate bin contact before calibration. After adjustment, verify at several representative loads because a high-capacity scale may be used from a few kilograms to near 60 kg. Preserve as-found data when troubleshooting rather than immediately recalibrating every failed check.
Comparator and accumulation controls
Comparator can judge count or weight using upper/lower limits and optionally a buzzer. M+ accumulation sums count data. If weight is correct but comparator output is not, check mode/limits. If count is wrong but ordinary weight passes, rebuild the unit-weight sample. These are separate layers of the system and should be diagnosed separately.
Optional communications
HD-03 provides RS-232C with selectable command/stream modes and serial parameters; HD-05 provides current-loop output; HD-04 provides comparator relay. Use AX-USB-25P when a USB connection is needed from RS-232C. If transmitted data is incorrect while the local display passes known-weight verification, troubleshoot serial format rather than calibration.
