A&D HL-1000WP is a 1000 g × 0.5 g IP65 compact washdown scale for food preparation, seafood, coffee, ingredients and small portions that need a hygienic stainless enclosure. The current A&D platform combines SUS304 housing and pan, approximately one-second response, NSF 169/14159-1 listings, six-AA battery operation and a small 128 × 128 mm footprint.

Core specifications
Capacity is 1000 g and readability is 0.5 g. A&D lists a 128 × 128 mm pan, approximately 870 g instrument weight, g/oz/lb/lb-oz units, tare and zero/net indicators, low-battery warning and automatic power-off. Six alkaline AA batteries provide approximately 200 hours, while an optional adapter supports dry fixed operation.
IP65 and adapter limitation
IP65 means dust protection and resistance to water jets in the specified configuration. It is not an immersion rating. A&D explicitly states that HL-WP is not IP65-compliant when the AC adapter is connected. Disconnect and protect the adapter before wet cleaning, keep seals and battery covers correctly installed and verify after substantial washdown.
Food sanitation and response
SUS304 construction and NSF listings support HACCP-style food environments. The approximately one-second response helps portioning and prep stations work quickly. The 0.5 g display is useful for smaller ingredients and portions, but it is not an analytical or milligram balance; choose a finer instrument for sub-gram formulation decisions.
External calibration and verification
HL-1000WP uses external calibration. Stabilize the dry scale on a rigid level surface, use an appropriate calibrated reference and verify with an independent known weight afterward. Check again after relocation, impact or aggressive cleaning. Calibration cannot correct a container touching the housing, residue under the pan or an unstable table.
Exact U.S. legal status
A&D’s current U.S. product table lists HL-1000WPF as the 1000 g × 0.5 g process model and does not mark it legal for trade. The MNM page is categorized under NTEP precision balances, but a category label is not a certificate. Use HL-1000WP/WPF for internal process weighing unless the exact supplied nameplate and current approval documents establish otherwise.
