A&D HL-1000WP Cleaning, Calibration, IP65 & Legal-Status Guide

A&D HL-1000WP cleaning and calibration should follow current IP65 guidance rather than older dealer claims of complete submersion. The battery-powered scale withstands dust and water jets, while the optional AC adapter removes IP65 compliance and must be disconnected and protected before washing.

Cleaning sequence

Disconnect and isolate the adapter, power off and remove gross soil. Clean the stainless pan and housing within IP65 water-jet limits. Do not immerse the scale or use excessive pressure. Dry thoroughly, inspect beneath the pan and ensure the battery compartment is secure. Verify zero and a known mass before reuse.

External calibration and verification

Calibrate on a stable dry bench with an appropriate calibrated reference. After adjustment, test an independent known load and repeat it. If readings drift, investigate moisture, temperature, residue, vibration and pan contact before recalibrating. Verification after cleaning often catches setup problems without changing span.

Battery and adapter troubleshooting

Replace all six AA batteries together and observe polarity. Approximately 200 hours is the manufacturer alkaline estimate. If the unit works on the adapter but not batteries, inspect battery contacts. If it works on batteries but not the adapter, verify the correct supply. Adapter operation is a dry, non-IP65 configuration.

Legal-status check

A&D’s U.S. model table lists HL-1000WPF without a legal-for-trade designation. The MNM category placement should not be treated as NTEP evidence. For regulated transactions, require the exact approved model and current certificate. Calibration cannot confer type approval on a process model.
