A&D EW-12Ki for Commercial Weighing, Bulk Materials, Parts & Packaging

A&D EW-12Ki for commercial weighing, bulk materials, parts and packaging offers a compact Class III transaction platform with 1 g readability at low loads, 2 g through the middle range and 5 g at the full 12 kg capacity. This makes it useful for operations that handle a wide range of item weights and want the scale to provide finer legal increments automatically when the load is lighter. Counting, percent and data functions add internal utility, but the transaction procedure must respect the certificate’s restrictions and the actual device marking.

Commercial bulk materials

Specialty materials, ingredients, components or commodities up to 12 kg can be weighed in the approved top-pan configuration when the Class III intervals fit the sale. A 2 kg item uses the 1 g interval; a 5 kg item uses 2 g; a 10 kg item uses 5 g. Match the scale division to the commodity value and legal requirement rather than advertising the lowest 1 g increment as if it applies across all 12 kg.

Large parts and industrial inventory

For internal inventory, EW-12Ki can count heavier components with average unit weight of at least about 1 g. ACAI improves average piece weight as more pieces are added. The calculated count is an internal inventory feature—not a legal-for-trade function under CoC 04-019A3. Validate a hand-counted sample before making large inventory adjustments.

Packaging and receiving

The 12 kg range covers many parcels, ingredient boxes and production packages while standard RS-232C can send accepted weights to a PC or printer. If packaging declarations are regulated, define whether the certified EW-12Ki result is the official compliance measurement. Keep the package stable and fully on the 133 × 170 mm pan; an oversized box touching the bench creates a false low reading.

Suspended process work is separate from trade approval

Although A&D lists physical underhook compatibility for EW-12Ki, the U.S. NTEP certificate only grants under-scale approval to EK-6000i and EK-12Ki. If a lab wants to use EW-12Ki for density or suspended process weighing, that can be technically useful, but it should not be represented as the certified commercial configuration under CoC 04-019A3.

When another model is better

Choose EW-1500i for lower capacity and finer 0.1–0.5 g Class III intervals. Choose EK-12Ki for a 12 kg × 1 g Class II model when a fixed 1 g interval and NTEP-approved underhook capability are relevant. Choose a larger bench/floor scale when containers exceed 12 kg or do not fit the compact pan. Choose EK-6100i for non-trade 0.1 g process work up to 6 kg.

Frequently asked questions

Can EW-12Ki be used commercially? Yes in its approved Class III top-pan configuration, subject to exact markings and local requirements. Does 1 g readability apply to all 12 kg? No; ranges are 1, 2 and 5 g. Can it count large parts? Yes internally, but counting is not legal for trade. Does it have RS-232C? Yes. Can its underhook be used for legal trade? CoC 04-019A3 does not approve under-scale weighing for EW-12Ki. Which model has NTEP-approved underhook at 12 kg? EK-12Ki Class II.
