Choose an A&D scale around the load and the job

Start with the heaviest item and its container, then identify the smallest weight change your process needs to distinguish. Taring a container removes its displayed weight, but the container still uses capacity. Check that the pan supports the load without touching nearby surfaces. A small sample on a laboratory bench, a carton at a packing station, and a food portion on a wet counter call for different equipment, even when each carries the A&D name.

Compact precision or analytical weighing?

The A&D EK-300i compact balance provides 300 g capacity, 0.01 g readability, a 110 mm round pan, and external calibration. It is a practical starting point for small components and routine sample weighing when hundredth-gram increments suit the task. For finer laboratory work, the A&D GX-124AE analytical balance offers 122 g capacity and 0.0001 g, or 0.1 mg, readability. It has internal calibration and a built-in fanless ionizer to address static interference. Compare analytical balances if your procedure needs this resolution. Readability is the display increment; it does not establish the smallest acceptable sample for your method. Plan for a stable, level location protected from drafts and vibration.

Bench weighing with target checks and printing

The A&D HV-15KCP bench scale combines a built-in printer, color comparator, and 9.8 × 9.8 inch pan. Its three weighing ranges are 6/15/30 lb with corresponding 0.002/0.005/0.01 lb increments, so the displayed increment changes as the load increases. Consider it for manually checking packed items against target limits and retaining printed weights. It operates from an AC adapter; USB and RS-232 interfaces are optional. Compare bench scales for general weighing or checkweighers for target-weight work. The HV-15KCP has an IP65 base; that rating does not make its entire printer-equipped assembly a washdown scale.

Match washdown protection to the cleaning routine

The A&D SK-20KWP washdown scale weighs up to 44 lb in 0.02 lb increments and has a removable stainless steel pan for portioning and prep work. Its IP65 protection applies with battery operation; A&D's manual says the scale does not meet IP65 when used with an AC adapter.
