A&D FC-500i for Electronics, Jewelry Parts, Fasteners & Inventory

A&D FC-500i for electronics, jewelry parts and tiny fasteners is designed for inventory counting where individual pieces may be far lighter than the scale’s 0.05 g direct weighing division. Fine counting mode can calculate average piece weights down to 0.0005 g, but that value is an algorithmic unit-weight threshold rather than direct scale readability.

Tiny electronic parts

Use larger initial samples for very small resistors, contacts, pins and similar components. Fine mode plus ACAI can produce useful counts when many pieces collectively create enough load, but electrostatic charge and mixed components can overwhelm the method. Validate a hand-counted sample before relying on the result for valuable stock.

Jewelry findings and precision hardware

Jump rings, clasps, beads, screws and other small hardware are good candidates when pieces are reasonably uniform. FC-500i is intended for internal counting and kitting rather than customer sale by weight. For precious materials sold by mass, use an appropriate legal-for-trade balance even if FC-500i is useful for internal inventory.

Kitting and assembly cells

Store frequently used SKUs in the 500-item memory and use comparator targets to identify incomplete or overfilled kits. The simplified operation mode can reduce accidental key changes. If suppliers change and individual piece mass shifts, refresh the stored unit weight before continuing production.

Inventory data capture

Standard RS-232C can feed a printer or inventory computer. UFC formatting helps customize output. Verify that the receiving system records piece count, item ID and any weight unit correctly. A barcode scanner or multiple serial devices can be integrated through appropriate additional interfaces depending on the workflow.

When a larger FC-i is better

FC-1000i doubles capacity to 1 kg with 0.1 g readability. FC-2000i and FC-5000i accept larger bins and sample lots. Select the lowest capacity that safely fits the container and inventory batch because lower-capacity models generally offer better piece sensitivity.

Frequently asked questions

Can FC-500i count pieces lighter than 0.05 g? Yes through average unit-weight counting when enough pieces are sampled; it does not directly weigh a single 0.0005 g piece. Is ACAI useful for variable parts? Yes, within reasonable variation. Can I store SKUs? Up to 500 IDs. Does it support a PC/printer? Yes via standard RS-232C. Is it good for customer jewelry sales by weight? Use an approved legal-for-trade balance for that transaction.
