A&D FZ-500i precision balance provides 520 g capacity with 0.001 g readability and an internal calibration mass, giving users one of the widest capacities in the standard FZ-i milligram-readability group. It is well suited to processes where tare containers, fixtures or larger assemblies would consume too much of a 120 g or 320 g model’s range.
Performance and capacity margin
A&D lists 0.001 g repeatability and ±0.002 g linearity, with about one-second stabilization in FAST mode under good conditions. The 130 mm pan supports compact containers. Capacity includes both vessel and sample, so the 520 g range is particularly valuable when a formulation vessel or fixture itself weighs several hundred grams.
Internal calibration and functions
The built-in calibration mass reduces handling of external standards during routine calibration. ACAI counting, percent, animal mode, comparator, statistical calculation, underhook and GLP-style output support multiple workflows. Independent verification remains important because internal calibration adjusts the balance but does not independently prove performance at every load point.
Connectivity and minimum-weight context
RS-232C is standard. FXi-02 Quick USB, FXi-08 Ethernet and FXi-09 rechargeable battery are optional and mutually exclusive. A&D lists a typical USP Chapter 41 minimum weight around 1.4 g for this 0.001 g model group; laboratories should establish their own installed minimum weight through qualification rather than adopting the catalog figure automatically.
