A&D FZ-500i laboratory balance applications are strongest when a process needs milligram readability but also uses substantial containers, fixtures or assemblies. The 520 g capacity gives considerably more gross-load headroom than smaller FZ-i models while preserving 0.001 g readability and internal calibration.

Large-tare formulation

A tared beaker still physically loads the sensor. A 300 g vessel holding 150 g of formulation is a 450 g gross load even when the display was zeroed before filling. FZ-500i’s 520 g range can accommodate workflows that would overload a smaller model. Plan capacity from gross weight, not the net display after tare.

QC, parts and counting

Comparator and statistics modes support repeated part checks, while ACAI counting can estimate uniform small-component quantities. Use a representative sample and known-count verification when inventory accuracy matters. Internal calibration is convenient for shared production stations, but external check weights should still be used according to the quality plan.

When to move to a larger model

If gross loads regularly exceed about 500 g, FZ-1200i provides 1220 g capacity but changes readability to 0.01 g. Select FZ-500i when milligram resolution is the priority and 520 g is sufficient; select the kilogram-class model when gross capacity is the controlling requirement.
