A&D HC-3Ki 6 lb / 3 kg industrial counting scale is designed for stockrooms, kitting, fasteners, electronics and cycle-count work where the primary goal is estimating piece quantity from weight. The normal weighing display is 0.001 lb / 0.0005 kg (0.5 g), while A&D lists a 0.1 g normal minimum unit weight and a much smaller 0.005 g fine-mode unit-weight threshold for counting. That 0.005 g figure is not direct weighing readability; it is an average-piece-weight capability used by the counting algorithm. HC-3Ki stores up to 99 unit-weight IDs, uses ACAI to refine counts, has Audible Weighing Assist, supports accumulation and offers optional RS-232C or RS-232C+relay. It is an industrial non-NTEP counting scale, not a legal-for-trade transaction device.

Exact HC-3Ki weighing specifications
Capacity is 3 kg / 6 lb. Weighing readability is 0.0005 kg / 0.001 lb. A&D lists ±0.5 g non-linearity and 0.5 g repeatability, a 300 × 210 mm stainless platform, roughly 10 display updates per second and a 3 kg ±0.1 g calibration weight. The scale body is approximately 315 × 331 × 126 mm and about 4.8 kg. These are the weighing-system figures; counting has separate unit-weight/internal-resolution specifications.
Normal versus fine minimum unit weight
A&D lists minimum unit weight as 0.1 g / 0.005 g, representing normal and fine counting capabilities. A 0.005 g calculated average piece weight does not mean one 0.005 g object can be directly weighed on a 0.5 g display. Fine counting works from the combined mass of many pieces and internal resolution. Very light items need a large representative sample so the aggregate sample mass is big enough to establish a useful average.
99 memories, ACAI and Audible Weighing Assist
Up to 99 stored unit-weight IDs reduce repeated setup for common SKUs. ACAI automatically improves the average unit-weight estimate as additional pieces are added, while Audible Weighing Assist beeps as the operator approaches a target quantity. Accumulation can total piece counts across multiple containers. These functions make HC-3Ki more efficient for repetitive inventory than a general-purpose precision balance with only basic counting mode.
Optional RS-232C and relay
HC-03i adds RS-232C for computer/printer integration. HC-04i provides RS-232C plus comparator relay output for external status devices. The two options occupy the same interface position, so choose the communication/control architecture before ordering. A&D’s WinCT-UFC software supports interactive HC-i communication and can help with data/setting workflows.
Battery portability
HC-06i adds a sealed lead-acid rechargeable battery. A&D lists approximately 80 hours without the optional interface. This makes HC-3Ki practical for mobile cycle counting. Re-level the scale after moving it and verify with a known load/count before making high-value inventory adjustments.
Non-NTEP status
Current A&D HC-i product information positions the series as industrial counting equipment and does not provide an NTEP trade designation; HC-3Ki is also listed by a major industrial distributor as “Not NTEP Rated.” Use the scale for internal inventory, kitting, production and QC. If customer price or regulated quantity is determined directly by weight, use a certified legal-for-trade model instead.
