The GX-1-4K four-cell package is well suited to buyers rebuilding an industrial platform or designing a four-point warehouse scale from the frame up. Each sensor is rated 4,000 lb, and MNM includes four feet and spacers, so the kit can be integrated under a rigid deck using a summing junction box and compatible indicator. The practical advantage of four shear beams is load distribution: pallets and bulky freight can be weighed over a broad deck while the four corner sensors collectively measure the structure’s load.
Why shear beams are common under floor scales
Single-ended shear beams fit naturally under low-profile platform frames. One end is mounted to the structure and the load is introduced through the opposite end/foot. Four cells allow a large rectangular deck to be supported near its corners. Compared with a single central load cell, the layout can handle larger deck sizes and distributed freight while still allowing electronic corner adjustment. The design is serviceable because an individual damaged cell can be diagnosed and replaced without discarding the entire frame—provided the replacement is mechanically and electrically compatible.
Capacity planning for pallets and concentrated loads
Do not size a floor scale by multiplying 4,000 lb by four and stopping there. A pallet foot, drum edge, cart wheel or forklift interaction can concentrate load near one cell. Frame deflection can also shift load unevenly. Determine the maximum gross load, expected off-center loading, deck self-weight, loading method and impact conditions. Keep enough margin so no individual cell is routinely driven near its limit. Mechanical overload stops can help protect the scale, but they must be adjusted so they do not contact during normal weighing and create corner errors.
Warehouse installation checklist
Use a flat foundation; keep the frame rigid; give all four feet solid contact; route cables inside protective channels; keep ramps from binding against the live deck; protect the junction box from impact and moisture; locate the indicator where forklift traffic cannot strike it; and verify that check rods or side restraints allow vertical movement. If the scale sits in a pit, leave clearance around the deck and keep debris from accumulating between the live frame and pit wall. Recheck corner response after moving a portable platform.

Replacement work
When replacing a failed floor-scale cell, match more than capacity. Compare overall dimensions, mounting-hole spacing, loading-hole/foot geometry, rated output, bridge resistance, excitation range, wire colors/cable termination and environmental protection. The GX-1-4K listing gives 3.0 ±0.25 mV/V output, 385 ±20-ohm input and 350 ±3-ohm output resistance. A replacement with very different sensitivity can make corner trimming difficult. After installation, never stop at 'the display moves.' Perform corner balance and full zero/span calibration.
Common warehouse-scale problems
Pallet weighs differently near one corner: perform a corner test and inspect binding. Zero shifts after a forklift crosses the platform: check overload stops, bent frame members and feet. Display jumps when motors start: inspect grounding, shielding and cable routing. Scale reads low only when a ramp is installed: the ramp may be touching the live deck. One corner is dead: isolate the corresponding cell and cable. Scale gradually becomes inaccurate: inspect accumulated debris and verify calibration with known loads.
