How to Calibrate the MNM Comp-1K-0.1 with LP7515
The Comp-1K-0.1 is listed as a calibrated 1,000 lb x 0.1 lb system, but recalibration can be needed after a load-cell or indicator replacement, fixture change, overload, service repair, or failed verification. The LP7515 has a documented calibration flow that sets scale format before zero and span.
Prepare the fixture and known load
Install all normal adapters and fixtures, align the load cell axially, remove unintended preload, and allow the unloaded reading to stabilize. Prepare a traceable known load or reference force. LP7515 public documentation states the calibration load should be at least 10% of maximum capacity, and 60-80% of capacity is preferred when practical and safe. For a 1,000 lb system, choose a reference that is safe for the stand and accurate enough for the intended tolerance.
Configure decimal, division, capacity and loading weight
In the LP7515 setup/calibration flow, confirm the decimal-place setting, display division, maximum capacity and the calibration loading weight. For this MNM system the target configuration is based on 1,000 lb maximum capacity and 0.1 lb displayed increments. Record the original parameters before changing them.
Enter [CALon]
When `[CALon]` appears, press HOLD to enter weight calibration. If you are not prepared with an unloaded stable fixture and the correct reference force, exit rather than completing a bad calibration.
[noLoAd]: zero calibration
At `[noLoAd]`, make sure no test force is applied and the fixture is in its normal zero condition. Wait for stability, then press HOLD to confirm zero calibration. If the reading drifts, stop and investigate mechanical binding, cable pull, battery/power problems or electrical noise.
[AdLoAd]: span calibration
At `[AdLoAd]`, apply the calibration force that you entered in the loading-weight setting. Apply it smoothly and axially. When the fixture and display are stable, press HOLD to confirm the loading calibration. Do not use a guessed force, an unverified shop object, or a fixture with obvious side load as the calibration reference.
[CALEnd]: save and exit
When `[CALEnd]` appears, press HOLD to save the weight calibration, then use ON/OFF as instructed in the LP7515 manual to return to weighing mode. After saving, remove the load and confirm the system returns close to zero.
Verify multiple points
Check more than the calibration point. Apply several increasing and decreasing reference forces, repeat one or two points, and check return to zero. If Peak Hold is used, verify a controlled peak after the normal static zero/span calibration. A successful `[CALEnd]` message does not prove that the fixture is mechanically correct.
Troubleshooting LP7515 calibration
Calibration will not complete: verify stable signal, correct loading-weight entry and sufficient known force.
Reading is negative: inspect signal polarity and fixture direction.
Overload/error indication: remove force and inspect capacity settings, wiring, connectors and load-cell damage.
Correct at calibration point but wrong elsewhere: check fixture alignment, reference accuracy, mechanical hysteresis and multi-point behavior.

Do I need to calibrate a new system out of the box?
MNM lists the Comp-1K-0.1 as calibrated and ready to use. Verify it with a known reference before critical work, and recalibrate only when verification, installation conditions or service changes justify it.
Can I use only 10 lb to calibrate a 1,000 lb scale?
That is below the public manual's 10% minimum guidance. Use a larger known force; 60-80% is preferred when practical and safe.
Does calibration fix side load?
No. Mechanical misalignment creates changing forces and errors that electronic calibration cannot reliably correct.
