How to Set Up and Calibrate an MS720 Dual-Input Pallet Beam Scale

An MS720 dual-input pallet beam system combines two load bars with one indicator. Good calibration starts by proving that both mechanical bars and both electrical inputs are healthy before any span value is stored.

Step 1: Inspect and position both pallet beams

Place the beams parallel on a firm, level surface. Inspect feet, frames, cables and connectors for damage. Confirm the pallet or test platform contacts both beams without rocking. Do not calibrate while one beam is partially unloaded by an uneven floor or interfering structure.

Step 2: Connect the two inputs correctly

With power off, connect each load bar to one of the two rear MS720 inputs. Do not force connectors or assume unrelated connectors share the same pinout. Power up and allow the system to stabilize.

Step 3: Prove both beams contribute

Apply a modest safe test load to beam A, then beam B. Both should change the displayed weight in the same direction. Large differences can indicate a damaged beam, connector problem, configuration issue or severe mechanical imbalance. Resolve that before span calibration.

Step 4: Confirm capacity and displayed division

A replacement indicator must be configured for the capacity and increment of the actual pallet-beam system. Do not assume settings from another MS720 installation. Verify units and any gravity/location settings that affect calibration.

Step 5: Zero and known-load span

With the beams unloaded and stable, perform the MS720 zero calibration using the exact service procedure for the unit. Apply a known, traceable load distributed across both beams and perform span calibration. MNM's public product page does not document the service key sequence, so this guide intentionally does not invent one.

Step 6: Verify the entire working area

Remove the load and confirm zero. Repeat the same load, then test different positions across the two beams and additional weight values when possible. Pallet beam scales are portable, so calibration should be rechecked after relocation, impact, cable repair or load-bar replacement.

Troubleshooting a failed calibration

Unstable zero: inspect floor contact, cable movement and electrical connections. One side light/heavy: test each beam and input separately. Span changes with position: check beam spacing, pallet contact and individual beam response. No change from one bar: inspect that connector/input and the bar cable. A negative response after wiring repair usually points to reversed signal polarity.
