Need help determining whether the MS-202 matches your existing scale? Call MNM Scales at (832) 290-3120 or email mnmscales@yahoo.com with photos of the old indicator, connector and scale nameplate.
The MNM MS-202 replacement indicator is aimed at owners of floor scales, hoppers, platforms and smaller vehicle-scale systems that need a new Legal-for-Trade-capable readout without replacing the entire mechanical scale. A replacement can be economical, but the indicator must match the system electrically and functionally and then be configured and calibrated for the actual platform.
What to Check Before Ordering
Record the old indicator model, scale capacity, displayed division size, weighing unit, number and resistance of load cells, connector pinout, whether a junction box is used, whether the application needs NTEP/Legal-for-Trade operation, and whether a printer, computer or remote display is connected. MNM states that the MS-202 can power up to eight 350-ohm load cells and provides serial output, making it suitable for many common industrial platforms, but physical connector compatibility should never be assumed from photos alone.

Floor and Pallet Scale Replacement
Four-cell floor scales commonly combine their sensors in a junction box and send one excitation/signal cable to the readout. In this case the indicator replacement is only part of the job. Check corner balance, foot condition, frame clearance and junction-box condition before final calibration. If the old indicator failed after a lightning event or cable short, inspect the load-cell system before connecting a new readout.
Hopper and Process-Scale Replacement
Hopper systems can add mechanical errors from rigid piping, flex connections, agitators or material buildup. A new indicator will faithfully display the force reaching the sensors, including unwanted force paths. Verify the vessel is mechanically free and the support cells are balanced before adjusting zero/span. RS-232 output can be useful when the weight must feed a printer, computer or supervisory process, subject to compatible communication settings.
Small Truck and Axle Applications
MNM specifically describes the PS-IN202 family as popular for floor scales, hoppers and small truck-scale applications. Vehicle-related installations should be checked carefully for load-cell count, total bridge load, approved configuration and scale capacity. Where weights are used commercially, confirm the complete system’s legal configuration and local service requirements rather than relying only on the indicator’s NTEP certificate.
Why Calibration Is Required After Replacement
The new indicator does not know the platform’s dead load, load-cell sensitivity, full-scale capacity or actual span until it is configured. The MS-202/PS-IN202 family provides complete digital calibration. After installation, establish the correct setup parameters, perform P11 zero and P12 span with appropriate test loads, then verify multiple loads and corners where relevant.
