Safety & Approved Power
The manufacturer-hosted FM 3054278 US certificate and EK-EP manual identify Class I, Division 1, Groups C and D, T3C, and Class I, Zone 0, AEx ia IIB, T3. The manual specifies a −25°C to +40°C approval ambient range; the separate operating range is listed in Specifications. Match the actual unit’s markings, location classification and every certificate/manual condition before use.
- Use only four Duracell MN1500 LR6, Energizer E91 LR6 AM3 or Panasonic LR6(XJ) AA alkaline batteries. All four must be the same type and manufacturer; do not mix old and new cells.
- Install or replace batteries only in a non-hazardous area. Do not use rechargeable batteries or an AC adapter.
- Assess the certificate’s 170 pF accessible-metal capacitance condition when determining electrostatic suitability; clean plastic surfaces only with a damp cloth.
- Do not disassemble or modify the balance. Keep it away from corrosive gases and prevent it from getting wet or soaked.
