A&D FS-6Ki is a 6 kg / 15 lb IP65 stainless checkweigher built for food preparation, packaging, grading and repetitive production checks. Current A&D documentation lists selectable 0.5 g, 1 g and 2 g metric display resolutions, approximately 0.5-second stabilization, 20 display updates per second, tricolor comparator lights and 100 stored comparator settings. In the U.S., A&D separately identifies FS-6KiF as the legal-for-trade configuration, so buyers who need NTEP should specify the F-version rather than assuming every global FS-6Ki is certified.
Fast checkweighing performance
FS-i is designed for throughput rather than laboratory-style static weighing alone. A&D lists 0.5-second stabilization and 20 updates per second. Bright HI/OK/LO comparator lights plus a 60-segment analog sweep let operators see whether a portion or package is below target, within tolerance or above target without reading every digit. Take-away checkweighing with auto-tare is useful when portions are repeatedly removed from a larger starting load.
IP65 and SUS304 food-area construction
The display housing and weighing pan use washable SUS304 stainless steel, and the scale is IP65 dust/water protected. A&D also describes the load cell as waterproof/corrosion-resistant. IP65 is appropriate for washdown-style cleanup and splashes, but it is not an immersion rating. Use compatible cleaning chemicals, inspect seals/connectors and verify the scale after aggressive cleaning.
100 product/comparator memories
Store up to 100 comparator settings for recurring products. This is valuable in meat, seafood, bakery or prepared-food operations where operators alternate between target weights and tolerance bands during a shift. Use simple operation/key lock modes to reduce accidental changes by line operators.
Optional battery and interfaces
The optional sealed lead-acid battery is rated around 80 hours when backlight, comparator lamps and interface are not being heavily used. FS-03i provides RS-232C plus comparator relay output; FS-04i provides RS-422/485 plus comparator relay. A&D states FS-03i and FS-04i cannot be used at the same time. Interface installation should preserve the enclosure sealing required by the application.
External calibration and verification
FS-i uses external-weight calibration. Before calibration, level the scale, let it stabilize and make sure the pan is clean and not mechanically touching surrounding equipment. After adjustment, verify with known weights representative of the process range. For legal-for-trade FS-6KiF service, preserve required seals/configuration and follow local weights-and-measures procedures rather than changing metrological settings casually.
FS-6Ki vs FS-6KiF legal status
A&D U.S. currently markets FS-6KiF as a 15 lb × 0.001 lb legal-for-trade IP65 static checkweigher with NTEP/Measurement Canada approval. The global FS-6Ki family supports selectable higher-resolution settings. If commercial legal-for-trade use is required, order and place in service the specifically approved U.S. F configuration; do not infer NTEP status from the base family name alone.
