A&D HT-500 is a 510 g × 0.1 g compact portable scale with an included stackable carrying case, four-AA battery operation and approximately 450 hours of alkaline battery life. It serves jewelry components, coffee samples, crafts, classrooms, field kits and other internal weighing tasks that need more capacity than HT-300 without sacrificing 0.1 g readability.
For practical niches, read the HT-500 jewelry, coffee, craft and classroom guide. For external calibration and portable setup, use the HT-500 calibration, batteries and case guide.

HT-500 specifications
Capacity is 510 g, readability is 0.1 g and the pan is 132 × 130 mm. The body measures approximately 195 × 136 × 44 mm. A&D lists multiple units including g, oz, lb-oz, ozt, tael, tola and Newton. The optional HT-10 SUS304 pan provides a stainless surface, while the standard scale remains a dry-environment compact instrument rather than a washdown device.
Carrying case, color bars and security
The included stackable case protects the instrument in normal storage and transport. Color bars can identify departments, work types or verification status, and the case has a name-plate holder plus pen storage. A rear security slot can accept an anti-theft lock when the scale is assigned to a shared classroom, shop or lab.
Power and external calibration
Four AA batteries support about 450 hours, and an optional AC adapter is available. External calibration requires a suitable reference after the scale is stable. Verify with a separate known mass afterward, especially after travel. Auto power-off conserves batteries, but it can be considered in workflows that need the display continuously active.
Model-selection guidance
Choose HT-500 instead of HT-300 when containers or samples may exceed 310 g but still need 0.1 g readability. Choose HT-5000 when several kilograms are required and 1 g readability is acceptable. HT models are not listed with counting, serial output, IP washdown or legal-for-trade approval, so select another family if those features are required.
