A&D SK-5001WP is a 5000 g × 1 g grams-only IP65 compact scale for food production, formulation, portioning and wet process checks. It provides finer metric readability than SK-5000WP at the same 5 kg capacity, but A&D’s current U.S. SK-WP lineup explicitly identifies SK-5001WP as the non-NTEP exception.

5000 g × 1 g metric performance
SK-5001WP has 5000 g capacity and one-gram readability. It is grams only, which simplifies operation for metric recipes and production specifications but makes it unsuitable when operators require pound display. The 232 × 192 mm pan, large LCD, tare function and stainless construction match the broader SK-WP platform.
IP65 and adapter limitation
The battery-powered configuration is IP65 dust/water-jet resistant and NSF compliant. A&D states that SK-WP loses IP65 compliance with the AC adapter connected. Disconnect and protect the adapter before wet cleaning. IP65 does not permit immersion or unlimited high-pressure sanitation.
Why choose SK-5001WP instead of SK-5000WP?
SK-5001WP reads to 1 g and is grams only. SK-5000WP reads to 2 g and has an approved U.S. legal-for-trade configuration. Choose SK-5001WP for internal metric process control where the extra gram of display resolution matters. Choose SK-5000WPF when an approved commercial transaction scale is required and its certified divisions fit the application.
External calibration and battery life
The scale uses external calibration and approximately 1,200 hours of alkaline battery life. Use a suitable calibrated reference, then independently verify. Six D cells preserve portable IP65 operation and avoid an adapter near the wet station. Replace the set together and remove batteries during long storage.
Confirmed non-NTEP status
A&D U.S. states that SK-WP legal-for-trade models are NTEP/Measurement Canada approved except SK-5001WP. Use this model for internal recipes, process weighing, quality checks and non-transactional portions. Do not represent it as legal for trade or try to infer approval from the fact that other SK-WP capacities are certified.
